ToaG: Passing Train

Description

So, this is not the best translation of the kind of trains that do this, but there isn't really that kind of train in the US, so I don't actually know the technical term. And by that I don't mean the name of their speed (ex: rapid, or express), I mean that they also tell us that the train is passing through and there's a word for it, but I can't remember it at the moment and it translates very awkwardly. (for those of you wanting the Japanese, it's 通過電車 (tsuukadensha)

So, how trains work: There are some trains that stop at every station. Those are local trains. They suck. Other trains stop at some of the stations. The ones that stop at the fewest stations are the fastest trains (not how fast they physically go, but how fast time-wise).

So when these fast trains DO pass by....they're going full speed. Which is COMPLETELY terrifying if it's a bullet train, but at least those stations have a barrier between you and the train. Average trains? Not so much. There is nothing between you and death. SUPER scary >_< So yeah, first time near one of these things? Set my heart pounding, I can tell you that.

Anyway, so that's something to watch out for if you visit Japan.

Enjoy!

I know the trains go superfast in Japan, I've seen a bullet train in action... that is fast. Average trains are pretty scary on their own though, I mean, I live above a train station now, but before I moved in, apparently a woman was sucked under a passing train because she was too close to the edge, it did put me off trains for a while. :(
